The advantages of H-shaped steel columns include:

1.High bearing capacity

Compared with I-beams, H-shaped steel structures have higher strength. Less material is needed to achieve the same strength requirements than I-beams, which can save costs. For example, the flange of H-shaped steel is wide, the lateral stiffness is large, and the bending resistance ability is strong, which is approximately 5%-10% higher than that of I-beams.

2.Regular structure and easy splicing

The two surfaces of its flange are parallel to each other, which makes connection, processing, and installation relatively simple. At the same time, it is more flexible in structural construction and can improve space utilization.

3.Good structural stability

The connection is smooth and tight, with high toughness and stability. It is suitable for building structures that bear large vibration and impact loads, and has strong resistance to natural disasters. It is

particularly suitable for some building structures in earthquake-prone areas. According to statistics, in the devastating major earthquakes above magnitude 7 in the world, steel structure buildings mainly based on H-shaped steel suffered relatively less damage.

Compared with welded I-beams, it has lower cost, higher precision, and smaller residual stress. Compared with concrete structures, hot-rolled H-shaped steel structures can increase the usable area by 6%, while the self-weight of the structure is reduced by 20%-30%, reducing the internal force of the structure design.
